The faint lines of expression, across the forehead and around the eyes, that begin to linger after the face has rested.
Fine lines and wrinkles are the small creases the face begins to keep, lightly at first and then more visibly, as the years pass. Some are pressed in by expression, the lines that gather at the brow when you concentrate or at the corners of the eyes when you smile. Others appear simply as the surface of the skin grows thinner and less elastic, etched by time rather than by motion.
Both kinds answer to different work, and at Refined Aesthetics we treat them with that distinction in mind. There is no single tool for 'wrinkles.' There is the tool that fits the line.
Treatment of fine lines suits anyone who has begun to notice them and would rather meet them early than wait. Early treatment is the most rewarding by most accounts: small interventions, taken seriously, tend to keep fine lines from setting deeply in the years that follow.
It also suits those who have lines already established and want them softened, with the understanding that the softening is graded and ongoing rather than absolute. The aim is for the face to look like itself, only less tired, and that is a result built carefully, over time.
Two forces, mostly. The first is movement. Every expression you make folds the skin a little, and over years of the same expressions repeated, the skin folds in the same places enough to keep a faint memory of the fold. The face you wear in repose begins to look like the face you wear in conversation.
The second is time itself. As the skin loses collagen, elastin, and the hyaluronic acid that once kept it plump, the surface grows thinner and less able to recover from the small daily creases. Sun and habit accelerate the process, but the underlying cause is structural, and shared by everyone.
You may notice:
Fine lines deepen quietly, and on a long arc. In the late twenties and early thirties they are dynamic only, appearing with expression and disappearing at rest. Through the thirties they begin to linger a moment longer after the face has stilled. By the forties, many are present at rest, etched lightly into the skin, and they continue to deepen with the years that follow.
Sun, habitual expression, sleep position, smoking, and the slow loss of structural skin support each press their own contribution. None of this is sudden, which is why the work of meeting fine lines is best begun early and continued steadily.
Sarah is so naturally kind and knows her profession very good. She keeps you so calm by asking how you are doing and having good conversation with you while doing procedures. I absolutely love her sweet personality. I had laser done on my legs from years of sun damage and it went so smooth. Thanks Sarah! The whole team is so professional and nice.
